KAESER Low Pressure
Compressors
More Compressed air, less energy!
Why
Kaeser Compressors are the right choice for use on your marine vessel...

Energy Savings. All models come
with a unique on-off control system. During periods of no air demand,
the unit will completely shut-down, using absolutely no power. Upon
demand, the unit automatically starts and delivers to capacity.
Competitor systems can use as much as 70% of full-demand electric
power levels during periods of no air demand.
Fuel efficiency. Kaeser rotary screw compressors
are 20% more efficient than reciprocating piston compressors - less
horsepower required to acheive the same air delivery
- less power needed/less fuel consumed.
Low noise level. Sound absorbing materials and
heavy-duty vibration isolators in every Sigma screw compressor keeps
operating noise to a minimum. The gentle hum of a Sigma compressor
operating at full load won’t even interupt your conversation.
Allowing for greater flexibility for placement.
Less vibration. Rotary screw technology is smooth
and vibration-free thanks to heavy-duty rubber isolators on every
model. Kaeser compressors can be placed near living quarters without
fear of disrupting personnel.
Soft start technology standard on all SM models
and larger. Magnetic Wye-Delta reduced voltage starter ensures low
starting current and smooth acceleration. Reducing strain on electric
system - further saving fuel.
Easy installation. Sigma screw compressors are
compact and can be installed quickly and easily.
Cool running. The oil injected during compression
acts as a lubricant and sealant, as well as a coolant for the screw
pump. The absorbed heat is removed from the oil when it flows through
the generously sized cooler.
Greater service life. Designed to be run up to
a 100% duty cycle. You can’t do that with a piston compressor.
Main bearing rated at 100,000 hours load life.
Kaeser Global service and parts distribution. With
over fifty subsidiaries and branch offices, KAESER Compressors is
active in every industrialized country in the world. When you buy
a KAESER product you can be assured that expert support is near
at hand.
Kaeser guarantees parts availability for at least
15 years from purchase date. Kaeser further guarantees that any
standard Sigma screw compressor emergency repair part will be shipped
within 24 hours of order, or the parts are free!
How
KAESER Screw Compressors Operate

Atmospheric air is drawn through the cabinet prefilter
into the air inlet filter where it is further cleaned. The atmospheric
air is compressed within the efficient Sigma screw airend. The Sigma
screw airend is driven by an electric motor. Oil is injected into
the rotor housing to lubricate, seal and remove heat generated by
compression. As a result of this internal cooling mechanism the
temperature during compression reaches only 180°F under normal
operating conditions.
Oil is separated from the compressed airstream by the 3-stage oil/air
separator. The oil is cooled, flows through a micro oil filter and
returns to the injection point. The oil circulates soley by internal
pressure, eliminating the need for an oil pump.
After passing through the air/oil separator, the compressed air
is passed to the aftercooler via the minimum pressure check valve.
This valve maintains minimum system pressure to ensure continuous
oil injection into the airend. The temperature of the compressed
air is cooled to within 10-15°F of the ambient temperature by
the air-cooled aftercooler, thus removing a large percentage of
moisture from the compressed air.
Maintenance Friendly
The SX and SM units have wide-opening
access doors and removeable panel with key locks to provide easy
access to all important components. Quick change devices on the
separator and cooler allow fast, complete fluid changes. Motor overload,
high air and lubricant discharge temperature, reverse rotation,
and loss of drive are signaled by lighted indicators. Unit shuts
down immediately if a malfunction occurs.
